LISC SUMMER CAMP
GTM Research Reserve’s education team hosted an LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation) summer camp for Duval County middle school students, part of the Ribault Sportsmen Association (RSA). The summer campers participated in archery lessons and a competition, in addition to learning about the American alligator from FWC Law Enforcement Officer Dodd. She highlighted facts about the animal and its habitat as well. She also talked about the possibility of becoming an FWC law enforcement officer and what it is like. The GTM-LISC summer camp is a special event funded by the Friends of GTM Research Reserve and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, Jacksonville, Florida. In 2022, the partnership began with an Estuary Day at GTM, which has grown into an annual summer camp that has inspired external community service projects and citizen science initiatives.
