200ft Boardwalk
Rhoden Cove Landing on Lake Jackson AP will have a new 200ft boardwalk and observation platform by the end of the year that will offer the public wildlife viewing and bank fishing opportunities. However, there are many challenges in access, permitting, and construction due to dramatically fluctuating water levels and vegetation at this site. Therefore, LJAP staff recently met with Leon County Parks & Recreation Superintendent to discuss plans for the boardwalk. Specifically, the boardwalk’s elevation and path and the terminal platform’s location and size were pinned down. In addition, the AP manager provided DEP dock specifications and considerations in advance which will make the upcoming permitting process more efficient for all parties. Leon County staff have been critical stakeholders to work with in order to provide numerous adequate access paths to aquatic preserve resources.
