FCR3 Implementation Meeting
On August 12, the Coral Protection and Restoration Program, along with The Reef Institute, hosted the Florida’s Coral Reef Restoration & Recovery (FCR3) Initiative Implementation Meeting. Established in 2023, the FCR3 Initiative aims to support the long-term recovery of at least 25% of Florida’s Coral Reef by 2050 through the development of infrastructure, technology, workforce capacity and logistics. The Implementation Meeting focused on advancing the FCR3 Initiative through its three phases by identifying logistic gaps and brainstorming solutions. Coral restoration practitioners and county representatives reviewed the Initiative’s goals, objectives and benchmarks and worked to establish a shared vision for achieving these targets. Key outcomes included a shared understanding of the Initiative’s current status and future direction, as well as opportunities for partners to provide community-informed ideas for improving restoration approaches and technologies.
