Message From The Manager
Each of the five aquatic preserves within the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserves offers a unique visit of protected submerged state lands, healthy mangrove shorelines, seagrass beds and oyster bars. Southwest Florida’s subtropical climate is home to a variety of animals as well, in addition to migrating birds. Although the areas are all connected by water, each offers unique vistas, worthy of the continued protection for the enjoyment of future generations.
Pine Island Sound Aquatic Preserve has some of the most extensive seagrass beds of all of the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserves area, along with the deepest growing seagrass, an indicator of good water quality. Whether you're trying to access one of the boat-only accessible barrier islands, such as Cayo Costa or North Captiva, or just enjoying a day on the water, the beautiful water and natural resources of Pine Island Sound Aquatic Preserve will make it an unforgettable day.
Sincerely,
Arielle Taylor-Manges
