Registration Open for Florida Master Naturalist Coastal Systems Module with Rookery Bay and Partners

Adults interested in Florida’s wildlife, coastal environments and conservation can now register for the next Florida Master Naturalist Program Coastal Systems Module offered by Rookery Bay Research Reserve and expert partners.  This hybrid course combines online instruction with an optional hands-on field experience.  The online component allows people to join the program from all over Florida.  Participants will learn from experienced biologists and environmental professionals while having the opportunity to explore Florida’s diverse coastal ecosystems.  Students will study topics including marine mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, coastal uplands, invertebrates, native plants and the interconnected systems that support Florida’s coastal habitats.  The course is designed for anyone with an interest in nature, including educators, volunteers, outdoor enthusiasts and lifelong learners.  Classes will be held online on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from August 18 through September 17, with one optional in-person field experience scheduled for August 21.  The Rookery Bay Coastal Module is one of three in the University of Florida’s IFAS Master Naturalist program.  Each is designed to promote understanding, appreciation and conservation of Florida’s natural environments through science-based education and hands-on experiences.  The other two courses necessary to qualify for official designation as a Florida Master Naturalist are Freshwater Systems and Upland Systems.  Learn more and register online at: https://conference.ifas.ufl.edu/fmnp/cs26-11hybrid.php.
