The Garden Club of Verona Walk Visit Rookery Bay

The Garden Club of Verona Walk (a very large Naples community) recently visited the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center, where they were welcomed by Verona Walk resident and longtime Rookery Bay volunteer Jeanne. A dedicated member of the Reserve’s volunteer team, Jeanne has contributed more than 2,000 hours of service. She has led countless groups through the center and helped visitors of all ages connect with the coastal environment. Her enthusiasm continues to inspire both visitors and fellow volunteers, making her a valued part of the Rookery Bay community.

During the visit, Volunteer Coordinator Donna Young provided the group with a tour of the pollinator garden. She highlighted the diversity of native plants thriving on the grounds and explained their role in sustaining local wildlife from pollinators to coastal birds. The tour created conversation among club members, who asked lots of questions and shared observations from their own gardening experiences.

Club members also expressed interest in how their community could contribute to ongoing efforts at Rookery Bay. Some asked about volunteer opportunities, while others wanted to learn how they might support programs that protect and restore the coastal landscape. Their engagement reflected the strong connection between Rookery Bay’s mission and the interests of local community groups.
