Special Guest Supports Environmental Stewardship in Central Panhandle APs

The Central Panhandle Aquatic Preserve (CPAP) was honored to host Cooper as a special ambassador of the canine delegation. The BARK Ranger program was started by the National Park Service to promote responsible practices in our public wild areas by pets and their humans. With the success of the program, many other organizations have adopted the program to promote best practices on our public lands (and waters). BARK stands for:

• Bag your pet’s waste
• Always leash your pet
• Respect wildlife
• Know where you can go

 As many of our beaches are pet friendly, it is important to highlight the necessity of coexisting responsibly with the wildlife that calls them home, particularly during shorebird and sea turtle nesting seasons. Cooper’s advocacy for responsible wildlife viewing and best environmental practices provide a shining example of stewardship by canines and their humans in our coastal areas. With Cooper’s help, CPAP staff hope to expand the BARK Ranger program to more of our beaches to ensure continued responsible use of our vital aquatic resources.
