Charlotte Harbor AP Seagrass Monitoring - Halfway There!

Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserve (CHAP) staff recently made it over the halfway mark for sea grass fixed monitored sites. With more than 30 of the 50 transects monitored, the crew is making great headway this monitoring season.  

Last week, the Southwest Region AP Manager, Mindy, assisted the Division of Environmental Assessment and Restoration with their seagrass transects in Caloosahatchee River while snorkel certifying their staff. Staff from South District Environmental Resource Permitting also helped out CHAP staff on another monitoring day. They paired up the seagrass monitoring with an adjacent site inspection.  

There were a few notable wildlife observations last week as well including lots of black sponges, spiny sea stars (some of the biggest staff have seen) and juvenile lemon sharks!
